Fermilab ECD

Dancing at Fermilab is called by Mady Newfield and Tammy Bretscher and meets on one Sunday afternoon each month from 1 to 5 p.m. Dances are also occasionally held on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 10 p.m. There is sometimes live music by Old Fezziwig’s Band.

On Sundays, the first hour is reserved for experienced dancers only, so that we can program more challenging dances. Newcomers are welcome starting at 2 p.m., or may come early to watch. Those with limited experience in English country dance are encouraged to come at 2 p.m. for basic instruction. The afternoon usually builds on what was taught earlier, so we appreciate newcomers arriving between 2 and 3 p.m.  Set dancing of this sort is appropriate for teenagers, but difficult for children in this multi-age setting, however children are welcome to sit at the end of the room with quiet activities. (For more child-friendly dancing at Fermilab, check out international folk dancing.)

The dancing takes place at:

Kuhn Village Barn
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory site
Between Warrenville and Batavia, IL
2 to 5 p.m. for all, 1 to 2 p.m. for experienced dancers
