September 11, 2017 special event:

The dancing of early 19th century Edinburgh

Noted dance historian Susan de Guardiola will teach dances from her recent research into the music and dances of the Lowe brothers of Edinburgh, one of whom was later dancemaster to Queen Victoria’s children. The dances, from books published around 1825, include a variety of waltz country dances, mescolanzes and quadrilles with interesting figures. Tim Macdonald and Jeremy Ward will complement the dancing with historically accurate renditions of the music. And to complete the theme, historical costume for any dancers who wish would be most appropriate!
